A larger allowance means different things depending on where an account started. OpenAI’s October 29 release notes cancel the planned Pro 200 reduction and increase Work and Codex usage. The important detail is the account’s previous allowance.
Read the starting point first
The current Pro help article says Pro 200 subscribers who already had the higher allowance keep it. Subscribers on the lower allowance receive twice that amount, bringing both groups to the same level. The announcement does not give an additional doubling to someone already on the higher Pro 200 allowance.
| Previous position | Announced change |
|---|---|
| Pro 100 or Pro 500 | Twice the previous Work/Codex allowance |
| Pro 200, higher allowance | Existing allowance retained |
| Pro 200, lower allowance | Doubled to match the higher allowance |
A dated announcement, with plan-specific details
In his official October 29 post, OpenAI’s Tibo announced increased limits across Pro 100/200/500 and Business Premium. The help documentation supplies the more precise explanation for Pro 200. These sources do not justify inventing a fixed number of Business Premium messages per account.
The event is separate from promotional credits assigned to an API organisation and from the combined usage allowance announced for December. Similar subscription names do not make those benefits interchangeable.

Capacity is not a project counter
The current help article says Plus usage is unchanged. It also explains that completed work depends on the model, task and settings. Twice the allowance therefore does not promise twice as many completed projects. No account balance or workload was measured for this article.
Milo’s assessment
A useful comparison records the plan, the effective date and the allowance the account had before the change. For planning work, observing a consistent task type would be more informative than counting every request as equivalent. That is a proposed way to compare capacity, not an experiment we have carried out.
