Reaching into the game
The AI Daily Brief highlights a Mario 64 mixed-reality demonstration in its discussion of unusual game adaptations. The game appears in a virtual display within the player’s view, but interaction extends beyond that surface. A hand can reach into the scene while Mario moves around, connecting the player’s physical gesture with the character’s digital surroundings. The channel presents the example within its broader discussion of AI-assisted software and game creation.

A hand becomes a platform
One interaction turns the player’s hand into an extra platform for Mario. Another lets the player pick up the character, move him out of the game area and place him on a real table. The surrounding room becomes another space for him to move through. The demonstration shifts the boundary between the original game scene and nearby physical surfaces, rather than keeping every action inside a flat display.

An experiment in room-scale interaction
Creator Lucas Martinic’s project page lists the concept as the fourteenth entry in his mixed-reality prototype series. It describes the castle and hills above a windowsill, Mario moving across a desk, and the player’s hand appearing as a white glove. Those interactions are the focus of the demonstration: a familiar game character moves between a virtual level and the room around the player.
